THE MEANING OF MALICE: AVAILABLE NOW

Sandra Bridewell was a beautiful socialite in the affluent Dallas suburb of Highland Park in 1978-82, when DALLAS was the world's most popular TV show and the Dallas Cowboys were America's favorite team. Her husband, Bobby Bridewell, was a top hotel developer and the most popular man in Dallas society. When Bobby died of lymphoma in 1982, Sandra quickly fell from grace in her tight-knit society. Four years later, she left Dallas and moved to the Bay Area under a cloud of suspicion that she had committed multiple murders. In 1987 she was the subject of a sensational D Magazine feature titled "The Black Widow" that suggested she had indeed murdered two of her husbands and the wife of the prominent cancer doctor who had treated Bobby Bridewell. But had she really? If, as so many in her community believed, she was a Black Widow serial killer, why was she never arrested?

5-STAR AMAZON REVIEWS: THE MEANING OF MALICE

"FABULOUS ENGROSSING BOOK"

Could not put The Meaning of Malice down. Best book I’ve read in a long time…and I read a lot! [C.S. Barekman, Amazon review]

"AMAZING STORY – AND THE TRUTH AT LAST!"

John Leake has a bloodhound's unerring nose for a great story and a bulldog's tenacity to pursue every possible lead to gather the facts. Then he applies a smooth-as-silk storytelling style to keep his readers on the edge of their seats. In this case, his personal familiarity with The Black Widow of Highland Park spans decades, going back to his youth. This book will almost certainly go down as the definitive history of the mystery Dallas socialite who left a trail of death and – until now – many unanswered questions in her wake. Once I started this book, I couldn’t put it down. Wish I could give it six stars! [R. Barry, Amazon review]

"GRIPPING"

You can't put it down. [Mark D Brugge, Amazon review]

"TRAGICALLY TRUE"

John Leake has written a tale of true malice—of evil. This well researched & well written page-turner is a story that chronicles the path of a psychopath on her quest for personal, material gain. Truly Sandra Bridewell masqueraded as an “angel of light” as she committed dark deed after dark deed. [Candy Hill, Amazon review]

"SCARCELY POSSIBLE TO BELIEVE"

I remember hearing about these murders as a kid in Dallas and have always wondered why no one wrote a book about them. Well, Mr. Leake has just produced a great one. Highly recommended for fans of true crime or anyone looking for a page-turner. [Sam L, Amazon review]
